A 28-year-old Riverhead woman is charged with felony driving while intoxicated after she drove drunk with a one-year-old infant in her car, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police said Ranisha Pendleton was observed failing to maintain her lane of travel on Route 58 early Thursday morning. She was pulled over by a police officer and found to be intoxicated. A one-year-old child was a passenger in her vehicle, police said.
Pendleton was charged with violation of Leandra’s Law, which makes DWI a felony if there is a child in the vehicle.
She was processed and held for arraignment.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
