Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Riverhead Town Police detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man responsible for the armed robbery of Barth’s Drug Store last week.

The man entered Barth’s at 32 East Main St. on Friday, May 8 at approximately 2:45 p.m. and displayed a handgun while demanding money, police said in a Crime Stoppers press release issued early this morning.

The Crime Stoppers announcement came just hours after a second armed robbery took place on Main Street by a man whose description was similar to that of the man in the Barth’s holdup.

Both were  described as black males approximately 6 feet tall.  Friday’s robber was wearing white sneakers, with a black stripe going down the center of the sneaker, blue or black jeans and a black T-shirt, according to police. He fled through the rear exit of the drug store, eastbound with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

Police did not provide a surveillance camera image of the suspect and did not immediately respond to a request for such an image.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
