Riverhead Town turned out for the Blue Waves homecoming parade today. Throngs of residents lined the streets of the parade route to cheer on the class floats, the high school marching band, scout troops, public officials, various organizations and local businesses.

The parade marched on Main Street from East Avenue to Osborn, then headed north on Osborn to Coach Mike McKillop Memorial Field, where the Riverhead Blue Waves trounced the Bellport Clippers, 28-8.

Batman reigned supreme in the float contest where the theme was superheros. The senior Class of 2016 took first place with their Batman float. Juniors came in second for their Spiderman float. The freshman class of 2019 took third with Ant Man. Sophomores’ Captain America float was fourth.

Blue Waves fans filled the new bleachers for the first homecoming on a newly renovated field.
