Two back-to-back accidents on Route 104 sent seven people to the hospital this morning.
Four different ambulance districts responded to the crash, and East Quogue Fire Department brought a heavy rescue unit to the scene to extricate two people from a vehicle.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m., when a vehicle turning left off of Pleasure Drive onto Route 104 was t-boned by a Dodge Nitro traveling northbound on the two-lane highway, according to police on the scene.
As traffic slowed to a crawl near the scene of the accident on Route 104, a car traveling southbound rear-ended another car stopped in traffic, police said.
Ambulances from Flanders, Riverhead, East Quogue and Westhampton ambulance districts responded to transport seven patients injured in the accident to Peconic Bay Medical Center. No one was critically injured, police said.
Route 104 was closed for about 45 minutes as emergency responders handled the incident.
