Temple Israel of Riverhead will host the Irwin B. & Florence K. Abrams Scholar in Residence weekend June 24 and 25.
The program features speaker Arie Kaplan, an award-winning author, graphic novelist, comedy writer and lecturer Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25, 2016. Friday evening’s topic will be “Wizards of Wit: Jews in Comedy.” Saturday morning Kaplan will speak about the theater in his talk “Flickering Shadows: Jews in Film.” A book signing will follow “From Krakow to Krypton,” on Saturday evening.
Paid reservations are required. Ticket prices are as follows:
Services, dinner and speaker: Friday, June 24, 6:30 p.m., $36;
Services, lunch and speaker: Saturday, June 25, 9:30 a.m.,$18;
Services, light dinner, speaker and book signing (with purchase): Saturday., June 25, 6:30 p.m., no charge.
