A man trapped underneath a travel trailer on Sound Avenue was rescued by emergency responders Monday morning.
The man was riding a bicycle on Sound Avenue when he attempted to cross the road and was struck by a camper trailer hitched to the back of a pickup truck, according to police.
He collided with the front of the trailer and then was trapped underneath, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck, who was traveling westbound on Sound Avenue when the bicyclist attempted to cross the road, swerved to avoid the bicyclist and ended up clipping him with the front of the trailer, police said. The driver then came to a stop with the bicyclist trapped underneath the trailer.
Riverhead Police, Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Riverhead Fire Department responded to pull the man out from underneath the trailer.
He was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center with “no serious physical injuries,” according to an officer on the scene.
