Riverhead Town Police are investigating a report of gunfire in a Riverhead neighborhood just after midnight Saturday night, at the location of a large party where a fight had broken out earlier in the night.

Police are investigating whether a broken window in a nearby home is related to the reported gunfire, according to a press release issued yesterday.

Riverhead police responded to 1 South Oakland Drive twice Saturday night, once on the report of a fight at a large party and a second time, at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, on the report of shots fired, according to the relief.

At 9:15 a.m. police were called to a home on West Oakland Drive, where a resident discovered a bedroom window was broken sometime during the overnight hours.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. They asked anyone with information to contact the Riverhead Police Department at (631) 727-4500.
