Two employees at the Guess store at Tanger Outlets reported being robbed early this morning by a man who said he had a gun.
An unknown man approached two male employees as they were opening up the store, located in Tanger 2, at around 6 o’clock and announced a hold-up. The suspect said he had a gun, but did not display a weapon, according to Riverhead Police Chief David Hegermiller. He left the store with an undetermined amount of cash, the chief said.
According to radio reports, the employees told police the robber tied up them up and they called police as soon as they were able to get free, which he said took about 15 minutes. Hegermiller said he couldn’t at this time confirm whether either of the men were tied up by the perpetrator.
“It’s still a very active investigation,” the chief said.
