Living Water Church in Aquebogue kicked off its week-long Christmas celebration with the church’s annual “Pancakes with Santa” breakfast yesterday — and had a good turnout despite the falling snow and freezing rain that kept attendance down.

Last year the church hosted 500 people for the pancake breakfast, Pastor George Dupree said.

The foul weather didn’t dampen everyone’s Christmas spirit, though.

Santa and Mrs. Claus and Grandma Claus were onstage where youngsters danced with Frosty the Snowman and “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas” played on the giant screen behind them.

Small children sat with Santa to share their Christmas wishes and everyone enjoyed the warm meal.

Living Water Church will host the musical production “One Christmas Night” on Friday and their regular Christmas Eve worship on Saturday. Just as with the pancake breakfast, all community members are welcome to come celebrate the season, Dupree said.
