A Westhampton Beach man was arrested on a false personation charge after giving police a false name during a traffic stop in Flanders early Sunday morning, according to Southampton Town Police.
Basilio Lux, 37, was arrested on the misdemeanor false personation charge after he was stopped for traffic infractions on Wood Road Trail at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, police said in a press release. Lux gave the police officer a false name “to avoid paying tickets,” police said.
He was arrested at the scene, transported to police headquarters for processing, and held for morning arraignment.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
