Police: East End Drug Task Force arrests Calverton man on drug sales charge

A 19-year-old Calverton man is facing a felony drug charge after an East End Drug Task Force investigation.

Task force officers on Jan. 5 arrested Joseph Butler, of South River Road in Calverton on one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, according to a police press release. Butler’s arrest was a result of ongoing investigations into drug sales activity on the East End, police said.

Butler was arraigned in Riverhead Town Justice Court and remanded to Suffolk County jail in lieu of $1,500 bail.

The East End Drug Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional drug enforcement unit funded by the office of Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota. The task force includes detectives, police officers and law enforcement personnel from the New York State Police, Suffolk County Police Department, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Suffolk County Department of Probation, Southampton Town Police Department, Riverhead Police Department, East Hampton Town Police Department, Southampton Village Police Department, Southold Town Police Department, DEA, Homeland Security and Suffolk County District Attorney Investigators.
