Riverhead Idol, the talent showcase for young vocalists, has morphed into Riverhead’s Got Talent, a new program aimed at including a wider range of talents. 

This month Riverhead’s Got Talent will embark on a townwide search for the next big undiscovered entertainer. The winning act will be crowned on Friday, Feb.  3 at 7 p.m. at Riverhead High School ‘s Charles Cardona Auditorium.

The Riverhead Recreation Department’s new  talent show is modeled after the NBC hit show America’s Got Talent.

Riverhead’s Got Talent is looking for singers, duets, trios, dancers, groups, troupes, bands, musicians, comedians, one acts, and any other talented individuals who are Riverhead Town residents in grades 7 to 12 attending a school district within the town, including the Riverhead Central School District, St. Isidore School, Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School and the Shoreham-Wading River School District.

Auditions will kick-off on:

· Wednesday, January 25 – 3 to 5:30 p.m. in Riverhead Middle School room E-3
· Thursday, January 26 – 2 to 7 p.m. in tbe Riverhead High School auditorium
· Friday, January 27 – 2 to 5:30 p.m. in the Riverhead High School auditorium

“I am excited that our town’s young people will have an opportunity to showcase their skills and talents in our first “Riverhead’s Got Talent” competition,” said Supervisor Sean Walter. “I am especially thankful to the Riverhead School District for showing [its] community spirit in allowing us to use [its] facilities for this show.”

“The RGT stage truly welcomes all performers of all backgrounds,” said Ray Coyne, Recreation Superintendent. “We welcome the public to come down to see the show to support our students.”

An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 6 to 7  p.m. at the Senior/Recreation Department located at 60 Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue where contestants will have an opportunity to sign-up in advance for an audition date and time. For those who cannot attend, call-in audition appointments and walk-ins are also welcome.

Tickets for the show are $15 per person ($5 for children under 12). Tickets will become available on January 23 and can be purchased at these locations:

· Senior/Recreation Department, 60 Shade Tree Lane
· Riverhead Town Hall, 200 Howell Avenue
· At the door on the night of the performance.

Contestants who purchase tickets in advance will receive one free ticket.
