Riverhead beat Connetquot 50-32 at Riverhead High School. The game started slow for both squads in the first half, with many missed shots down low in the paint, as well as from the arc. Riverhead couldn’t get it together, as the first half came to an end in a 15-15 tie.

The second half proved to be a different story for Riverhead, as #10 Kate McCarney was a ball of fire, finding her zone and connecting for three 3-point shots in a row from all sides of the arc. The defense came together to block shots and control the ball down low. After Connetquot got into foul trouble, the game was Riverhead all the way. Connetquot mustered a few baskets but in the end, Riverhead cruised to a 50-32 victory.

Faith Johnson-DeSilvia had a game-high 16 points. McCarney scored 9.

The Waves (4-7 overall, 1-5 League II) travel to Lindenhurst (4-8 overall, 0-6 League II) Tuesday and then host Half Hollow Hills East on Friday, Jan. 20 at 4:30 p.m.
