Rose L. Forgione of Riverhead died January 15, 2017, at New York University Medical Center. She was 85 years old.
She was born Dec. 29, 1931 in Queens to Gerard and Mary Caira.
She was a graduate of Bayside High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family as a devoted mother and grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and she had “golden hands” at crafts and sewing her family said.
She was a member of the North Fork Italian-American Club and the Redhat Society.
Predeceased by her husband Joseph in 2015, she is survived by her children Joseph of Massapequa Park, Jana Kolsen of Garden City and John of California and by seven grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Isidore R.C. Church.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
