Paul A. Gancarz of Cutchogue died January 17, 2017 at this home. He was 90 years old.
He was born March 20, 1926 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Walter and Anastasia (Komieczka) Gancarz.
On September 4, 1949 he married Bertha Matwieczyk at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue.
Paul was a full-time house painter with his brother Peter. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He also was a clammer, a farmer and loved growing his gladiolas and vegetables and his lottery tickets.
Predeceased by his siblings John (1956), Peter (1988), Josephine (1998), Stella (2011) and Tony, he is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Robert) VanBurgondien of Southold and Debra (Robert0 Nowak of Bolivia, North Carolina, six grandchildren, Brian (Alice) Nowak of Manorville, Kevin Nowak of Medford, Jaclyn (Andrew) Tralka of Maui, Hawaii, Betsy (Peter) Barraud of Baiting Hollow, Kimberly VanBourgondien and Cynthia VanBourgondien of Southold and two great-grandsons Samuel Paul Nowak of Manorville and Kayleb Robert Tralka of Maui, Hawaii.
The family received friends January 21 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial followed at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church. Father Mariusz Gorazd officiated. Interment took place at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue.
