Riverhead Town Police this week charged an East Quogue man with petit larceny in connection with a Jan. 25 shoplifting incident at Kmart.

Steven Price, 47, removed $400 worth of merchandise from the discount store without paying for it, according to police.

Price was arraigned in Riverhead Town Justice Court and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility, police said.

An investigation by the police COPE division led to Price’s arrest on Feb. 16, according to the report.

Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
