In honor of Annie O. Plummer, a Georgia housekeeper who single-handedly distributed thousands of free dictionaries to needy schoolchildren, Mari Maki, Riverhead PTO executive council member, has provided all 398 fifth graders and all the teachers at Pulaski Street School with their own student dictionaries.

Maki is also a past president of the Pulaski Street PTO and a member of the Riverhead Rotary, a sponsor of The Dictionary Project, a national program to give students in grades 3 to 5 a dictionary of their very own.
