Faculty and staff from six Riverhead schools went head-to-head in one zany contest after another last night in the 6th Annual Crazy Sports Night competition sponsored by the Riverhead PTO Executive Council.
Pulaski Street School emerged the winner for the second year in a row, tallying a grand total of 28 points. Aquebogue came in second with 25 points, Phillips and Riley tied for third with 23 apiece, Roanoke had 21 and Riverhead Middle School, 20. The district office and the high school did not field teams in this year’s event.
The high school gym was packed with cheering students, parents, teachers and staff who all turned to show their support.
By halftime there were ties across the board. Aquabogue and Riley were tied for first, Polaski and Philips tied for second, and Riverhead Middle School and Roanoke tied for third.
During halftime, the Blue Masques treated the crowd to a musical performance from their upcoming show, Hairspray. Following the performance, the 50/50 raffle was drawn and the winner, who asked to remain anonymous, generously donated his winnings back to PTO.
The second half brought balloon races, a ball relay and the crowd favorite, “hungry hippos.”
