A Georgia man was arrested in Baiting Hollow last night on weapons possession charges.
Riverhead Town Police said they were called on the report of a suspicious vehicle at a home on Silver Beach Court in Baiting Hollow at about 8:05 p.m.
Upon arrival, patrol units located a 1996 Chevy Tahoe bearing a Georgia registration parked in the driveway of the residence, according to a police report.
Medicus Brown, 80, of Lithia Springs, Georgia was located near the vehicle, police said.
During the course of an interview with Brown, officers discovered that he was in possession of a loaded .22 caliber handgun, police said. During a subsequent investigation conducted at the scene, officers also discovered two other loaded handguns, a .22 caliber revolver and a .38 caliber revolver, according to police.
Brown was placed under arrest and transported to the Riverhead Police Department where he was processed and held for arraignment. He was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
