A pair of motor vehicle accidents, including a head-on crash on Youngs Avenue, sent four people to Peconic Bay Medical Center this morning.
An eastbound sedan on Sound Avenue near Oakleigh Avenue was rear-ended by an eastbound pickup truck. The force of the impact pushed the sedan into another eastbound pickup truck, after which the sedan careened off the road and into a farm field.
Moments later, there was a head-on crash on Youngs Avenue near East Meadow Road in Calverton. According to police on the scene an eastbound Jeep entered the westbound lane and collided with a westbound pickup truck.
The drivers of both vehicles in the head-on collision on Youngs Avenue, as well as the driver of the sedan and the pickup truck that rear-ended it on Sound Avenue were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps with assistance from Wading River Fire Department Rescue, responded to treat and transport the crash victims.
No arrests were made and the causes of both accidents remain under investigation, police said.
