East End Art show ‘Shadow’ to open March 14

The East End Arts Gallery is pleased to announce the new juried, all media art show, Shadow, at the East End Arts Gallery which will open with a reception on Friday, March 14, from 5 PM to 7 PM. This show will feature artwork that depicts the theme of shadows: “Colorful and complex or dark and obscuring, shadow is an artist’s best tool for evoking emotion while emphasizing form and focus,” explains East End Arts Gallery Director, Jane Kirwood. This show, sponsored by Peconic Bay Medical Center, will be guest juried by artist Ivan Kustura. At the reception, the public is invited to enjoy refreshments and meet the artists. The reception is a free event, open to the public. All artwork on exhibit is for sale. The show will run from the opening reception through April 18, 2014. The East End Arts Gallery is located at 133 East Main Street in Riverhead, NY and open hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 AM to 4 PM. Guest juror, international artist Ivan Kustura, displays a master’s finesse in the use of shadow. His own utterly unique art feels very contemporary with a strong foundation in modernism, cubism and surrealism.” Born in Croatia, and a graduate of The Fine Arts Academy of Venice, Kustura has had been featured in highly prestigious group and solo shows throughout the United States and Europe. Original works in all media that feature shadows of any kind may be submitted. Visual art entry deadlines are Thursday, March 6 through Saturday, March 8 at the East End Arts Gallery. The “Best in Show” winner of this show will be one of several artists who will participate in the East End Arts Gallery’s Winners’ Show in the Fall of 2015. First, Second, Third Place, and Honorable Mentions will also be awarded.
