Shelby Knox, the subject of a 2005 documentary and Sundance award-winning film profiling her as a teenager who joins a campaign for comprehensive sex education in the high schools of Lubbock, Texas and struggles to reconcile her newfound political beliefs with her conservative religious views will speak at Suffolk County Community College’s Eastern Campus on Wednesday, March 26.

Knox will appear as a featured speaker at The Suffolk County Community College Eastern Campus Feminist Film Series that began in February and continues through the spring 2014 semester. Three of the series’ eight films will be screened in March during Women’s History Month.

 The Education of Shelby Knox will be screened at 11am on March 26 in the Montaukett Learning Resource Center, Room 108 prior to Knox’s talk.

Students, faculty, staff, and the broader community are all welcome at each event. Admission is free. Reservations are not needed unless a group of 10 or more is attending. Groups of 10 or more must contact the Eastern Campus Activities office at 631-548-2522.
