A single-car accident on Nugent Drive early Saturday morning spilled diesel fuel along the roadway.
The driver of a Ford F-350 extended cab pickup truck told police he swerved to avoid a deer that jumped out in front of his vehicle as he headed east on Nugent Drive, near the Suffolk County jail in Riverside.
The truck spun around and hit a
road sign. The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident.
Riverhead Fire Department volunteers responded to the scene to clean up the fuel spill.
