Three people were hurt in a crash on Route 58 this morning when a car made a U-turn in front of a pickup truck on Route 58, according to Riverhead Town Police.
An eastbound Subaru Impreza pulled over and, as it attempted a U-turn on the five-lane roadway just east of the traffic light at the Tanger Outlets entrance, was T-boned by an eastbound Ford pickup truck, police said. The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m.
The driver of the Subaru, a 59-year-old man, and a back-seat passenger, a 28-year-old woman, were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said. The female front-seat passenger in the Subaru was uninjured.
The driver and sole occupant of the Ford pickup was also injured andtransported by RVAC to Peconic Bay.
None of the injuries was life-threatening, police said.
Route 58 between Kroemer Avenue and the light at the Tanger entrance was closed to traffic for about a half-hour.
