A woman was injured when she lost control of her car on Route 58 and crashed into a tree just before 8 a.m.
Police said the woman, who was driving a Chevrolet sedan, was eastbound on Route 58 when, according to witnesses, she seemed to try to turn around, fish-tailing across the road, and left the roadway and crash sideways into a tree in front of the TGI Friday restaurant on the north side of the road.
No other vehicles were involved in the incident, according to police, who are investigating the cause of the crash.
She was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center, police said. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
