Riverhead Police have charged a homeless man in the burglary of a West Main Street business last March.
Police today arrested Steven Dohner, 50, described as undomiciled, and charged him with third-degree burglary in connection with the break-in at McElroy’s Music and Religious Supply Center at 804 W. Main St. on March 30, 2013.
Fingerprint evidence recovered at the scene and submitted to the Suffolk County Police identification section was later matched to Dohner, who, at the time of the burglary resided at a men’s shelter in Riverhead.
Dohner was recently incarcerated on an unrelated matter in the Suffolk County Correction Facility.
According to the Riverhead police blotter on March 30, 2013, a person entered through the window of the premises and stole $10.
Dohner was processed on the burglary charge and arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court, after which he was remanded to the jail pending later court action.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
