A woman was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center Monday afternoon after a two-car crash at the intersection of Union Avenue and Second Street.
Police said the victim was operating her Jeep Liberty westbound on Second Street when the male driver of a Ford Fusion, who was southbound on Union Avenue, failed to yield the right of way. The vehicles collided and came to rest in the southwest corner of the intersection, nearly striking a parked pickup truck.
Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and transported the victim to PBMC at about 4:30 p.m. with a non-life-threatening laceration above her eye, RVAC Chief Joseph Oliver said.
The female driver of the Jeep was the sole occupant of her vehicle, according to police. There were three occupants in the Fusion, all of whom refused medical treatment, Oliver said.
Both vehicle were towed from the scene.
