Riverhead police are investigating a home invasion at a Roanoke Avenue apartment complex last night.

Police say an unknown man wearing a dark-colored mask, gloves and dark clothing forced his way into an apartment at Fairfield Apartments on Roanoke Avenue last night. Police did not provide the time at which the incident occurred, but said they were called to the location shortly after 10 p.m.

Once inside the apartment, the man displayed a knife and grabbed the resident’s cell phone as the resident was dialing 911, according to the police report.

The suspect fled the apartment complex on foot and was gone prior to the arrival of police.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Riverhead Police Department detective division at 631-727-4500 ext. 327. All calls will be kept confidential, police said.
