A two-car collision at the intersection of Sound Avenue and Doctor’s Path sent a man to the hospital shortly after 11 a.m. this morning.
A Buick was traveling northbound on Doctor’s Path when the female driver failed to negotiate a stop sign and collided with an eastbound Subaru travelling on Sound Avenue, according to police. The male passenger of the Subaru was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said.
Riverhead Fire Department responded with heavy rescue to remove the passenger-side door from the Subaru.
The female driver of the Buick was issued a ticket for unlicensed operation, according to police at the scene.
