Ray Pickersgill

Robert James Salon owner Raymond Pickersgill was returned to the office of Riverhead BID Management Association president Wednesday evening.

Pickersgill was elected president, an office he held from 2010 until he stepped down earlier this year for a brief stint in a paid executive director position. The vote came by a 7-4 vote of the BIDMA’s board of directors during their organizational meeting at Riverhead Town Hall. Board member Martin Sendlweski, who was absent from the meeting, was nominated for president by Laurence Oxman and received four votes. The vote was taken by paper ballot.

Hyatt Place general manager Steve Shauger was elected vice president, Minuteman Press owner Bill Allan was elected treasurer and Isabel Gonzalez, who represents residents in the special district, was elected secretary.

The BID Management Association is a private nonprofit corporation formed to handle the day-to-day affairs of the Business Improvement District, a special tax district in downtown Riverhead established by the town board in 1991. The town board is the governing body of the BID and enters into a contract with the BIDMA each year which allows the organization to undertake projects and sponsor events aimed to improve the district.
