A Central Islip man has been arrested for attempting to set three vehicles on fire in the parking lot of a bar in Commack earlier this year, Suffolk Police say.
Alexander Rivera, 35, was seen pouring gasoline over three vehicles in the parking lot of The Scene Restaurant and Lounge in Commack on March 16, 2014 at 2:40 a.m. Rivera fled the scene after being observed by a witness who was also in the parking lot at that time.
Arson Section detectives arrested Rivera last night at 8:06 p.m. and charged him with two counts of Attempted Arson. Rivera is being held at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
Editor’s Note: A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
