Turnovers and rebounds.

That was the undoing of the Riverhead Blue Waves (10-4) last night against undefeated North Babylon (14-0). The Waves lost their last regular season game to the league champion Bulldogs, 74-68.

“We turned the ball over too many times and gave them too many second shots,” Riverhead coach Dave Spinella said after the game, the second of two back-to-back losses for Riverhead.

“We fight to the end,” Spinella said. “Now we forget everything that’s happened since November and get ready for the playoffs,” he said.

The Waves’ first playoff game is next Thursday, Feb. 14, but they won’t know who the opponent is until bracket positions are announced by Section XI Monday.

Naysha Trent scored 27 points, while Shanice Allen added 20 to the board.
