Dorothy Mae Haberman, of Riverhead, passed away at her home July 4, 2014 at 85 years of age.

The daughter of John W. and Ruth Ashmore, Dorothy was born in Belfast, Maine on August 18, 1928 and moved to Ostrander Avenue, Riverhead shortly afterward, where she grew up. Dottie worked as a school bus driver for the Riverhead Central School District more than 22 years before retiring in 1990.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walter Haberman, daughters Sherry Johnson of Manorville and Dale Stubbings of New Bern, N.C. and five grandchildren: Scott Stubbings, of Winterville, N.C.; Erin Stubbings White, of Dover, N.C.; Bryan Johnson, of Rocky Point; Jason Johnson, of Riverhead; and Carly Johnson, of Huntington. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren and her brother, John Ashmore of Rocky Point.

A memorial service and visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home, 336 Marcy Avenue, Riverhead.
