Five innings and 50 minutes was all it took to send Revco Electrical into the men’s softball league championship game Wednesday night.
No. 3 seed Revco continued their postseason success by handing No. 1 seed Glenwood Village/Eastern Fuels their third loss this year by the score of 19-1.
Glenwood was unable to produce any type of offense all night long. They only registered four hits.
Revco’s pitcher Todd Van Scoy attributed the success to media coverage.
“Everytime you cover our game we rip the cover off the ball,” said Van Scoy.
And Wednesday night was no different.
Chris Contino led the way with 4 hits, 2 home runs and 5 RBIs for Revco. Rick Kulesa and John Zilnicki followed up with three hits of their own. Greg Goodale also hit two home runs, totaling 5 RBIs.
Revco reached their 5 home run limit in the third inning. They scored every inning making it nearly impossible for a Glenwood comeback led by a stellar 7-run first inning.
Mike Sauter also homered for Revco.
The loss dropped Glenwood into the losers bracket where they faced the winner of Precision Built vs. Riverhead Building Supply to decide who plays Revco in the championship game. And Glenwood, shaking off the rust, took care of business, beating Precision Built, 29-7.
Glenwood will get another opportunity to take down Revco for the championship on Monday, Aug. 12 at 7:30 p.m on field two in Stotzky Park.
