The Riverhead Town Board dedicated the future site of the town’s new justice court to the late Judge Allen Smith in a ceremony of tears and laughter on Tuesday.

Riverhead Town officials unveiled the new Town Hall on West Second Street today, christening it with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and party attended by more than 100 people. 

Riverhead Town government offices are moving into the new Town Hall at 4 West Second St. this week. The current Town Hall will be open on a limited basis. Residents should call ahead if they need to transact business in person.

The Town of Riverhead and Peconic Bay Medical Center have reached a tentative deal for the town to buy the property of the hospital’s Second Street campus for a new Town Hall and other offices.

Opinion: The very long saga of the town’s “space problems” is a classic example of how not to plan and execute capital improvements if you happen to be the governing body of a growing municipality.

The town board has nixed the plan to move town facilities to the Kmart building. With safety and security concerns over the town justice court "first and foremost," more ideas for construction and renovation are discussed.

Health care was the top issue for participants in Rep. Lee Zeldin's telephone town hall last week, according to the results of a poll question released by the congressman's office. The results of the four other poll questions will not be made public, Zeldin's spokesperson said today.

It's never easy to face unhappy constituents. But there's no venue for dialogue other than a 'town hall' meeting.
