Vines and Hops Café and Tavern celebrated its grand opening in downtown Riverhead yesterday with a ribbon cutting and party.
Vines and Hops, at 127 East Main St., offers wine from the North Fork and California, local craft beers and gourmet coffees as well as artisan food prepared by the North Fork Chocolate Company, which will also offer gift baskets in the café’s gift shop.
Owners Christine and Jeff McKay of Jamesport said they are excited to be opening their business in downtown Riverhead.
The café is filled with comfortable lounge areas and café tables and televisions in the “beer section” to promote a relaxed and intimate atmosphere for friends to hang out.
It’s a place for cozy conversation and fun, Jeff McKay said. Neither bar nor restaurant, the cafe offers a unique, comfortable and upscale environment and — located across from the Suffolk Theater — the perfect place for an after-the-show nightcap, McKay said.
