(Updated July 8) Riverhead Police say the suspect wanted in the Route 58 robbery turned himself in yesterday at Riverhead police headquarters. Police said Bobby L. Riddick, 46 surrendered at 6 p.m. yesterday.
Original story: Police have one man in custody and are searching for a second suspect in connection with a robbery on Route 58 in Riverhead overnight.
Police said Kenneth Belcher, 46, and another man forcibly took $300 from another man in a strong-arm robbery at DMV Plaza at about 1:45 a.m.
Officers responding to the call interviewed the victim, described by police as a 25-year-old Hispanic male. They later identified and arrested Belcher after a short foot pursuit, according to a police press release. Belcher has been charged with second-degree robbery.
The investigation is ongoing, police said. A second subject, whom police described as a black male, is still being sought, according to the report.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
