Two Riverhead men are facing first-degree robbery charges following their arrest on Railroad Avenue in Riverhead late last night.
Riverhead police were called to Railroad Avenue at 10:11 p.m. Sunday on the report of a robbery that had just occurred.
The 24-year-old male victim reported that he’d just been robbed of his wallet by two Hispanic males. Police searched the area and located two men matching the description provided by the victim, according to a police press release issued early this morning. The victim identified the suspects as the perpetrators, police said.
Antonio Chin, 35, and Jaime R. Xiquin-Valdez, 26 were taken to police headquarters and booked on charges of first-degree robbery, a class B felony.
Police did not say whether the suspects displayed a weapon in the commission of the alleged crime or threatened to use one.
Chin and Xiquin-Valdez were processed, arraigned and held for morning arraignment, police said.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
