Riverhead Fire Department quickly extinguished a vehicle fire that destroyed a parked car on Meadow Lane this morning.

Three engines and around two dozen firefighters responded to a call of smoke under the hood of a car at around 9:30 a.m.

The car was not running when it caught fire. There was no one inside the vehicle at the time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
