Riverhead Police and the Suffolk County Police arson squad are investigating a fire at a vacant house on Melene Avenue just after midnight.

Police received a report of a structure fire at 26 Melene Avenue at 12:01 this morning. The vacant house had been boarded up, police said.

Arriving officers found a small fire in the kitchen area of the residence, according to the report. The Riverhead Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

Six people were arrested at the house in an East End Drug Task Force raid in April.
