Two people are facing grand larceny charges in connection with alleged shoplifting in June after they returned to the same Riverhead outlet store yesterday and tried to steal more merchandise, according to Riverhead Town Police.
Police said employees at the Tommy Hilfiger outlet store reported a man and a woman attempted to remove merchandise from the store without paying for it. The couple fled the store without the merchandise but were located in the area by responding police officers.
Luis Palacios-Garzon and July Beltran, both of Queens, were arrested for attempted petit larceny, police said. Upon further investigation, police determined that both Palacios-Garzon and Beltran were responsible for a prior grand larceny at the Tommy Hilfiger store and were additionally charged with fourth degree grand larceny, according to the police report.
Editor’s note: A criminal charge is an accusation. By law, a person charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
