Main Road crash injures five

Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Main Road in Jamesport this afternoon.

The crash between a pickup truck and a four-door sedan occurred just before 2:15, west of South Jamesport Avenue.

The roadway between Washington and South Jamesport avenues was closed to traffic in both directions while Jamesport Fire Department heavy rescue extricated two trapped victims from the sedan, Jamesport Fire Chief John Andrejack said.

Four occupants of the sedan and the driver of the pickup were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries according to officials. Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded with three ambulances and Mattituck Fire Department sent one ambulance to the scene to assist.
