Cops: Shoplifter stole Google Home device from Target

Riverhead Town Police report the arrest of a Calverton woman on larceny and drug charges stemming from an incident that took place in September.

Police said Brenda Wright, 29, removed a Google Home wifi system from Target on Route 58 on Sept. 27. The merchandise was valued at $274, police said.

Wright was arrested on Nov. 12 on charges of petit larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, according to a police press release issued today. Both charges are class A misdemeanors.

The arrest was made after an investigation conducted by the Riverhead Town Police COPE division, police said.

Wright was released pending arraignment, which is scheduled for Nov. 22 in Riverhead Town Justice Court.
