The Riverhead Lions Club, Riverhead BIDMA and the Town of Riverhead are sponsoring the 66th annual holiday parade and 18th annual bonfire on Dec. 9 from 3 to 9 p.m. All local civic associations, churches and other groups are invited to march in the parade.
The parade is open to participants of all churches, religious organizations, fraternal and service clubs, fire departments, car clubs, Long Island Antique Power Association, Boy and Girl Scouts, veterans clubs, 4-H clubs, ambulance corps and any musical groups that would like to join the event.
Marchers step off at the corner of Osborne Avenue at West Main Street and proceed east on Main Street to McDermott Avenue. The parade then returns west along the Peconic River to the Peconic River parking lot where a festive gingerbread house is set up for families to take free photos with Santa. The popular annual bonfire will be lit along the riverfront at the parade’s endpoint.
The parade starts at 3 p.m. sharp. Participants should arrive no later than 2:40 p.m. and be in place by 2:45.
The rain/snow date is Dec. 10.
