John J. Praino of Riverhead, died Nov. 14, 2017 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 93 years old.

He was born in the Bronx on April 17, 1924, the son of Frank and Mildred (Barbari) Praino.

A career military man, he served in the Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force and was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Air Force as a senior master sergeant after 40 years of service.

After his retirement, he embarked upon a second career as a title searcher for Title Busters in Riverhead.

He married Julia Ambrose in 1961. They loved to travel and dine out. The walls of his office were lined with matchbooks commemorating their travels.

Predeceased by his wife in April 2015 and by his brother Francis in 1951, he is survived by his godson Robert A. Sikora Jr., by his caretaker Lorraine Noonan, and by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held at Tuthill Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead on Nov. 17. A Mass of Christian burial was offered that day at St. John the Evangelist Church by the Rev. Peter J. Garry. Burial with military honors was conducted at Calverton National Cemetery.
