Michael A. Esposito of Patchogue, formerly a longtime resident and business owner in Riverhead, died March 14, 2018 at Southampton Hospital. He was 92 years old.
He was born in Brooklyn on June 23, 1925, the son of Luigi and Therese (Pagano) Esposito.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.
He was the owner of Mike’s Lounge in Riverhead and Mike Esposito’s Restaurant in Flanders. He served as president of the Riverhead Restaurant Association and was once a candidate for Riverhead town supervisor. He sponsored many sports teams, including baseball, bowling, women’s softball and dart league. He also donated uniforms to St. John’s track team.
Predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2013, he is survived by his son Louis G. Esposito and his granddaughter Alexandra Mikaela Esposito.
The family will receive visitors March 16, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tuthill Mangano Funeral Home, 406 East Main St., Riverhead.
A funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at St.Isidore R.C. Church, 622 Pulaski St., Riverhead.
Interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery on Monday, March 19.
