Riverhead Town Police are seeking witnesses to an accident involving a marked Southold Town Police vehicle earlier today.
Police said the Southold police unit collided with another vehicle on Northville Turnpike just north of Oliver Street today at about 12:20 p.m.
The police vehicle was escorting a funeral procession at the time of the crash.
The police officer involved in the accident did not sustain any injuries requiring medical assistance, according to a Riverhead Town Police press release. The driver of the other vehicle was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
