Riverhead Police have charged a juvenile they say stole nearly $800 worth of merchandise from Stop and Shop last month with menacing store employees with a stun gun.
Police said the suspect stole the merchandise, which they described as “consumable goods,” on July 24 then returned to the store on July 26 and menaced employees with a stun gun. The suspect left the area.
The arrest on Aug. 9 by Riverhead Police COPE division was the result of an ongoing investigation, police said in a press release Sunday.
The juvenile was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, menacing in the second degree and petit larceny, and released to his parent, police said.
Police did not identify the juvenile charged with the crimes or provide any other additional information about the suspect.
