George Joseph Wise Jr. of Aquebogue died Oct. 8, 2018 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 70 years old.
He was born May 3, 1948 in Queens to George J. and Dolores M.(Bergin) Wise.
He was a college graduate and a Vietnam veteran. He served in the U.S. Army as a specialist E-4. He earned a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He worked in law enforcement.
He was a member of the American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, singing, NASCAR, football, fishing and driving to the beach.
Predeceased by his wife Donna, his mother, and his granddaughter Marissa D. Torres, he is survived by his father, his daughters, Kim L. Wise of Aquebogue and Michelle L. (James) Carragher of Calverton, his son George J. Wise III, and his grandchildren, Victoria E. Shanik, Sgt. Robert A. Torres and James Carragher.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for Oct. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church.
