Pulaski Street School sixth-graders in Cindi Haverty’s class collected nearly 500 pounds of candy after Halloween as part of the Adopt-a-Platoon Halloween Candy Drive sponsored by the Brookhaven Veterans Association and in coordination with Brookhaven National Laboratory.
As part of the interdisciplinary project, they also wrote thank you letters to the soldiers, showing their appreciation for the troops’ service.
The letters and candy will be sent overseas by Brookhaven National Laboratory.
